The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is the first high-performance electric vehicle under Hyundai’s N performance brand. Consequently, it takes the award-winning IONIQ 5 EV and transforms it into an electrified sports car focused on thrilling driving dynamics and racetrack capability. With blistering acceleration and a suite of performance technologies, the IONIQ 5 N represents Hyundai’s boldest step yet into the world of electrified performance.
Exterior Design
The IONIQ 5 N gets an aggressively styled exterior to match its performance intentions. For instance, it rides lower, wider, and longer than the standard IONIQ 5 for improved proportions. Moreover, the front fascia features an N-specific grille, air curtains, and a lip spoiler. Along the sides are aerodynamic side skirts, forged 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli summer tires, and Luminous Orange accents. Additionally, at the rear, a prominent wing-type spoiler, rear diffuser with orange accents, and a triangular center high-mount stop lamp give the IONIQ 5 N a racy look.
Interior and Cargo Space
Inside, the IONIQ 5 N features N-branded elements like the steering wheel, lightweight bucket seats with reinforced bolsters, metal pedals, and motorsport-inspired details throughout. Likewise, the seats are positioned lower for better weight distribution. Furthermore, touches like checkered flag patterns, knee pads on the center console, and an optimized dead pedal cater to performance driving. However, cargo space remains similar to the regular IONIQ 5.
Battery and Range
Powering the IONIQ 5 N is a larger 84 kWh battery pack, up from the standard 77.4 kWh pack. Consequently, official EPA range figures are still pending, but over 250 miles on a charge is expected despite the performance focus. Additionally, the battery supports ultra-fast 800V charging at up to 350 kW, allowing a 10-80% recharge in just 18 minutes.
Performance and Driving
The IONIQ 5 N packs a serious performance punch thanks to dual electric motors producing 601 horsepower and 448 kW of power. Moreover, engaging the N Grin Boost function increases output to an incredible 641 hp and 478 kW for 10 second bursts. As a result, this allows a 0-60 mph time of around 3.25 seconds with launch control.
To support this performance, the IONIQ 5 N has a host of hardware and software enhancements. For example, this includes a reinforced chassis, electronic limited slip differential, larger brakes, sticky summer tires, adjustable regenerative braking, N Drift Optimizer, N Race mode, and more. Therefore, the result is supercar-level acceleration with impressive racetrack capability.
Advanced Tech and Safety
In addition to its performance tech features, the IONIQ 5 N comes very well-equipped with advanced driver aids. For instance, this includes forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, surround view cameras, and more.
Additionally, the car comes with unique tech features such as N e-Shift, which simulates the feeling of a dual-clutch transmission; N Active Sound+, which generates synthetic performance sounds; and standard N battery preconditioning to optimize battery temperature before driving.
Pricing
Pricing for the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N starts at $66,100 plus a $1,375 freight charge. As a result, this represents a significant premium over the standard IONIQ 5 which starts around $44,000. However, it does undercut the starting price of performance EVs like the Tesla Model Y Performance.
